Inspect forklift and coordinate maintenance for equipment Maintenance and upkeep of Michigan Engineering classroom furniture, including coordination of warranty issues Daily classroom inspections/ walkthroughs to ensure that they are outfitted with supplies (ie. markers, erasers, PPE, etc.) Call in work orders for building repair and maintenance (ie temp issues, leaks, overhead door issues, etc.) Assist with set-up / support for Michigan Engineering events around campus Coordinate with Property Disposition and complete Declaration of Surplus (DOS) forms for unwanted furniture or equipment Manage inventory of Michigan Engineering storage areas Assist with safety compliance (check AEDs, resolve safety infractions in public spaces, refill first aid stations, etc.) Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications* High school diploma or equivalent 1-2 years of relevant experience, including forklift operation and other dock equipment Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, good time management, organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure of deadlines Strong computer skills including proficiency with Google Workspace apps (Calendar, Gmail, Drive, Docs, and Sheets) Demonstrated ability to work independently, within a team, and with a diverse population while delivering a high-level of customer service Excellent communication skills including email, phone, Zoom, and in-person Desired Qualifications* Knowledge of UM Facilities & Operations structure and processes Knowledge of UM Facilities programs, AIM and OPS Familiarity with Property Disposition inventory system Work Locations The Michigan Engineering Office of Resource Planning and Management operates in a hybrid work environment consisting of both in-person and remote work. This position will be classified as a ON-SITE position within the Michigan Engineering STARR classification matrix which means working on campus 5 days per week and working remotely the rest of the week. You can find more information here: https://rpm.engin.umich.edu/human-resources/telecommuting/ Additional Information Physical Demands/Work Environment: Routinely moves packages and equipment of various weights (up to 50 lbs) around the dock and across north campus for delivery, classroom, and event needs Frequently walking around/through multiple buildings Ascending or descending ramps and/or stairs Will frequently work in a dock environment, which may involve exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, and inclement weather Must be able to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods of time, and operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment Must also be able to work in all weather conditions Background Screening The University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks.
