Position Title: Correctional/Nurse Practitioner Address: 2075 S. Avon Belden Rd. Grafton OH 44044 Pay rate: $84/hour 1099 Client: State of Ohio -ODRC - Lorain Correctional (LorCI) Openings: 1 Nurse Practitioner Duties Monitors progress of and intervenes in the course of chronic illnesses, using ODRC policies and protocols for guidance Inoculates or vaccinates against communicable diseases & prescribes medications or administers treatment of acute and chronically ill patients & performs minor surgery as training & competency allows Performs routine physical exams of patients to determine control or status of chronic conditions & diagnoses new conditions Evaluates patients for the necessity of specialty referral consultations inside or outside the institution & reviews said consult reports for the recommendations, approving or disapproving accordingly Orders & reviews the results of laboratory, x-ray, & other diagnostic testing as appropriate With the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), facilitates the completion of medical reclassification & requests for non- formulary medications as necessary Performs routine & emergency medical care of patients as scheduled Examines, diagnoses & treats patients within scope of practice, as identified by the State of Ohio Nursing Board, as applicable Conducts rounds on infirmary patients as deemed appropriate by the CMO Writes up medical information gathered during patient interviews according to ODRC Office of Correctional Healthcare guidelines, policies, protocols & related American Correctional Association standards currently in practice, documenting all assessments & diagnostic impressions, as well as any other treatment plans & follow-up parameters Cooperates with CMO medical quality oversight & accept suggestions, redirection, and guidance Remarks: Hours/Week: 40 Minimum Education Level: Master's Degree Submissions must include: Resume Cover Letter RTR Healthcare-professional level CPR certification ODRC packet: Ohio Medical License Drug Enforcement Administration certification. If Missing any documents, the bid will be rejected and cannot be re submitted If Chosen for position TB (Less than 30 days old) and Drug screen (HireRight - NDOT 9 Panel Drug Test w/eCOC-3.0) must be uploaded in prior to start Screenings must be initiated w/in 48 hrs of accepting offer. No cell phones permitted until proper paperwork has been submitted and approved. Must clear a metal detector, no cans, tobacco, vapes, etc permitted. Food/dirnks must be in clear see through containers. No more then 1 gallon of water permitted to be brought into the facility. This posting will be closed on when filled or at manager request *Resumes will be pushed daily Resumes submitted over the maxed budgeted bill rate will be rejected Mon-Fri / day shift / no weekends/holidays - start/end times have some flexibility based on needs of facility. Must have NP experience in a primary care or hospital setting Searching for a family or adult-gerontology nurse practitioner licensed to work in Ohio with at least one year of working NP experience in primary care to provide on-site services on a full-time basis to the male population at this correctional facility. Schedule is weekdays only (no evenings, weekends, or holidays) and shift start/end times have some flexibility based on needs of facility. An on-site interview will be required. Assignment is projected to last approximately 3 months but may be extended based on continued need and mutual good fit. The following credentialing documents must be submitted: a comprehensive resume that includes education (with location and year of graduation), training, and complete work history; Ohio license; healthcare-professional level BLS/CPR certification; and Drug Enforcement Administration certification. A packet of ODRC forms must also be submitted so that a background investigation can be completed. The results of a TB test and drug test must be made available to the hiring manager at least 48 hours prior to start, or the start date may be postponed. The TB test must have been completed within 30 days prior to start, and the drug test must have been completed within 60 days prior to start.
