Summary For the summer of 2024, Once Upon a Time Schoolhouse in Belleville is looking for school-age teachers. This is an ideal position for teachers, student teachers, coaches, camp counselors, and mentors on break for the summer. Teachers must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. They will be responsible for planning, implementing and supervising the daily activities for a group of school-age children. Teachers will use positive guidance techniques similar to PBIS for classroom management. Teachers will accurately track the number and whereabouts of all children in their group as children leave and return from summer school and swim lessons. Teachers will be responsible for their group while in public, on walks, and on field trips. Employment beyond summer is flexible, if desired, to meet college students' schedules. Duties Create and implement lesson plans and encourage participation by children.Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, maintenance, and availability of classroom materials.Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, photos, and ProCare messages.Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.Ensure the whereabouts and number of children in the group are known at all times.Represent our center while in the community.Conduct classroom management techniques using positive guidance. Follow all center policies and state regulations. Requirements At least 18 years of age. High school diploma or its equivalent. 240 hours of experience as a group leader, school-age assistant, public or private school teacher, student teacher or practicum, coach, camp counselor, mentor through a community-based organization, or in another approved setting. Complete or obtain required course for licensing requirements. Strong attendance record. High energy. Ability to work well with others. Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills. An understanding of child development. Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Must clear full background check and must pass health screening. Benefits After a successful completion of a probationary period, staff receive: 13 days of PTO/year Health & Dental Insurance Paid holidays Childcare discount About Us Once Upon a Time Schoolhouse is located in Belleville, WI approximately 15 minutes from Verona and 30 minutes from Monroe. We are located in the old Belleville Elementary School. We serve infants through school-aged children. Our operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. We create and implement our lesson plans using Creative Curriculum. We use positive guidance and follow the Pyramid Model framework and Nurtured Heart Approach. Each classroom receives 2 hours of lesson planning time each week, additional conference planning time in preparation for parent/teacher conferences, and other incentives throughout the year.
