Job Title: Medical Officer Responsible to: Chief Medical Officer Job Purpose: Supporting the Chief Medical Officer in the provision of medical services Location : UK or USA [Redhill or Cardiff [UK] and Indiana [US] This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, global medical unit which is part of a large US Insurer. Based in Indianapolis, USA and Cardiff and London in the UK it supports a wide range of business activities. In the broadest terms, the Medical Officer’s responsibility is supporting IMG’s Chief Medical Officer in the delivery of clinical services. These are provided by doctors and nursing officers from various locations in the US and UK. The successful candidate will be expected to periodically travel to our medical and operational hubs in Indianapolis USA, Cardiff and Redhill in the UK and elsewhere as new services and products are developed and so proximity to Redhill, Cardiff or Indianapolis, is preferable. Physicians in the company have a leadership role and we expect direct involvement in case management, documentation and decision making both within and, when on call, outside office hours. There is a ‘one in three’ on call rota to take referrals from our Operations and Medical teams. Throughout these periods it is expected that Physicians are proactive, document their discussions with treating teams abroad, give clear direction and escalate cases to the Chief Medical Officer when required. They will also assume direct responsibility for the clinical aspects of transfers being undertaken during these periods. Our medical unit supports IMG’s activity in the following areas. The development and management of our portfolio of travel and medical insurance products. The delivery of global assistance and patient transfer services.
