Description:
The placement student will be working with the engineering and CAD teams as a CAD technician at our subsidiary MEP design consultancy . The team are responsible for the following services: • Mechanical building services drawings (heating/hot water/drainage/renewables/Ventilation/AC) • Electrical building services drawings (LV/Fire/Access/BMS/Lighting/AV/IT/Lifts/Comms) • Co-ordination drawings To assist with the delivery of these services the students will be expected to complete work efficiently to meet deadlines, be flexible and adaptable in their approach to communicate with project teams and be able to present their work in a formal setting. Working as a technician is a very collaborative role and requires a person to be able to work well with others and take initiative when required. A base understanding and use of Auto CAD is needed. BIM/Revit experience would be a bonus but not required. The placement student' will have an assigned mentor within the team that will be responsible for the student’s workload and training as well as be available for support if required. The student and their mentor will have periodic reviews to backss their skill level, progression and need for training. As the student progresses over the course of their term here, they will be given more opportunity to lead and manage their own projects and will therefore be expected to manage their own workload. There will also be opportunities to experience other elements of the services that we provide as a company (e. g. environmental, acoustics, civils, mep design, thermal and energy modelling, embodied carbon backssments etc. ) if desired by the candidate to ensure they get a well-rounded and productive experience. Key Responsibilities: • Assist our CAD team and associated services proposition • Liaise with project teams on contract award to highlight requirements • CAD library and drawings • Develop and build relationships with industry peers, consultants and Clients.
