Senior Machining Engineer

Acme Industries is looking for a Senior Machining Engineer to join our team. This is new position added to our Engineering Department. The Senior Machining Engineer is responsible for the development of machining processes that ensure safe production conditions, produce an outstanding level of quality and meet both company and customer cost objectives. RESPONSIBILITIES: Apply well-developed knowledge of metal cutting processes to avoid potential failures and process problems for new as well as established parts. Implement improvements in both CNC milling and CNC turning processes. Create out-of-the box, innovative solutions to unique machining and technical problems. Implement mistake-proofing concepts to prevent product defects. Provide technical direction and guidance to staff and production personnel, provide hands-on project management. Act as support resource for the engineering and production teams. Work closely with production, quality assurance and maintenance personnel to prevent problems with products, machines, and tooling/fixtures. Responsible for partnering with the sales department in developing and delivering customer technical presentations. QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience in a similar position requiring the demonstration of a high level of machining and engineering capability. Exhibit great leadership including coaching skills with an ability to inspire, lead, and influence. Possess deep experience in the processing of complex precision machined components. Strong technical skills in machining process development, work holding concepts and tooling selection. Possess the ability to communicate effectively with internal, supplier and customer staff at a variety of levels. Serve as one of our technical leads on field assignments understanding customer's problems and challenges that drive potential business opportunities. Manage diverse, simultaneous projects of varying complexities. Extensive experience in machining processes of castings and forgings. Experience with MS Solidworks, Autocad and Cam Systems. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, 10+ years of industry engineering experience. 10+ years of large, precision metal parts machining in a similar organization. Prefer someone who has come up through the ranks with a well-rounded manufacturing and machining knowledge base.
