Fremont-Winema National Forest - Biological Technician (Weeds) Internship

Position Summary: The Fremont-Winema National Forest is recruiting 6 individual placements, beginning June through September 2023 (12 weeks) - 6 individual placements between the Silver Lake Ranger District and Chiloquin Ranger District. The incumbents will be paired with another intern and coordinate with Botany staff to survey, document, map, and treat noxious weed infestations in areas burned in 2021 fire season. This position will typically work four ten-hour days per week (Monday through Thurs). Required Qualifications: Willingness to work as part of a small team and occasionally alone Valid state driver's license. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs and to perform manual treatments using hand tools Ability to work outdoors in remote settings and inclement weather on uneven ground Program Benefits : Weekly stipend of approximately $640/week for a total living allowance of $7,680, prorated on a pay period (monthly) basis $1,718.25 education award upon completion of the 480 hours of service. The incumbent will receive training in CPR/First Aid & defensive driving. Please see attached position description for more details.
