Summary of Position: St. Michael's Catholic Academy seeks a full time, on campus Social Studies teacher beginning August 2023 for grades 9-12. We are searching for a dynamic, innovative educator in the field of Social Sciences at the high school level including Honors or AP courses. Candidates should believe in students and their ability to grow and develop, demonstrating a deep commitment to meeting the needs of diverse student learners. Candidates should show a high level of interest in collaboration and professional development. Responsibilities include teaching 4-5 sections of Social Studies courses, leading an advisory, supporting the St. Michael's writing center, participating in on-going community service projects and retreats with students and fellow teachers, and opportunity to design and teach winter term mini courses. Job Details: Responsibilities include but are not limited for the teacher to: Demonstrate a positive attitude towards students, families, staff and faculty. Be passionate about pedagogy and collaborative work. Be dedicated to carrying out the mission of the school. Possess wide-ranging academic preparation. Be fully committed to the development of a well-rounded student with attention to overall student well being. Be willing to work closely with colleagues on departmental objectives or cross curricular projects. Contribute to our Winter Term, a 3 week term during which diverse opportunities are offered for classes, academic travel and internships. Have strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills and a commitment to both the developmental needs of adolescents and to education. Have a commitment to diversity in all aspects of school life and reflect an appreciation of life long learning. Maintain appropriate boundaries in professional relationships with students, families and colleagues. Required Experience, Degree and Skills: All applicants must have prior experience. A bachelor's degree is required, and an advanced degree is preferred.
